Volunteer Safeguarding Check-Up
Terms of Use
Please read these terms before using the Volunteer Safeguarding Check-Up. By using the tool — free or paid — you agree to them.
Last reviewed: 24 August 2026
1. What this tool is
The Volunteer Safeguarding Check-Up is a self-assessment tool that gives a general, red / amber / green overview of how your volunteer roles sit against the regulated-activity rules for children in England and Wales — principally the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (as amended by the Crime and Policing Act 2026) and the associated GOV.UK guidance. Its results are generated from the information you enter, using a fixed set of rules.
2. It is information, not advice
The tool provides general information only. It does not constitute legal, safeguarding or other professional advice, and using it does not create a professional or client relationship with FaithStar LLP. It is not a substitute for a full audit or for advice on your specific circumstances. You remain responsible for your organisation’s safeguarding decisions. Before acting, verify the current position against GOV.UK guidance or take professional advice.
3. Accuracy and no warranty
The tool is provided “as is.” The law and official guidance change, and results depend entirely on the accuracy and completeness of the information you enter. FaithStar LLP does not warrant that the tool is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, and does not verify the information you provide.
4. Not for live safeguarding concerns
This tool reviews recruitment-level compliance. It is not for use where a specific concern or allegation about a child has arisen. In that situation, follow your safeguarding reporting procedures and statutory guidance immediately.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FaithStar LLP is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the tool or its results. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
6. Paid version — licence
Access to the full (paid) version is a single-organisation licence for the purchasing organisation’s own use. Access lasts 7 days from purchase. You may not resell, redistribute or share access to the paid tool. Payment is handled by Stripe; FaithStar LLP does not receive or store your card details.
7. Privacy
The tool runs entirely in your browser. The volunteer details and answers you enter are not transmitted to or stored by FaithStar LLP — they exist only on your device for the session. Payment information is processed by Stripe as our payment processor. See our privacy notice for more.
8. Governing law
These terms and the tool are governed by the law of England and Wales, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
