Frequently asked questions

A few of the questions faith-based organisations ask us most often. If yours isn't here, just get in touch.

Do you only work with faith-based organisations?
Yes. We focus solely on the faith-based sector — places of worship, faith-based charities, faith schools, religious orders and the wider structures that support them. That focus lets us offer advice that's genuinely relevant to how your organisation is funded, governed and run.
What's the difference between an independent examination and an audit?
Both give assurance over your accounts, but an audit is a more detailed and formal process. An independent examination is a lighter-touch review that's appropriate for many smaller charities, while larger organisations may be required to have a full audit. We can help you understand which applies to you.
Do we need our accounts examined or audited?
It depends on your organisation's size, income and governing document, as well as the requirements of your regulator. We can look at your situation with you and explain what's needed — there's no obligation in having that conversation.
Can you help if our treasurer is a volunteer?
Absolutely. Many of the people who keep faith organisations running give their time generously without being finance specialists. We're used to working alongside volunteer treasurers and trustees, explaining things clearly and taking the heavier work off their shoulders.
How does Gift Aid work for our donations?
Gift Aid lets eligible organisations reclaim tax on qualifying donations, which can add real value to the giving you receive. It relies on valid declarations and good record-keeping. We can set up robust processes and prepare and submit your claims to HMRC.
Do you work with organisations across the UK?
Yes — we work with faith-based organisations across the UK, whatever your tradition, size or structure.
How do we get started?
Get in touch and tell us a little about your organisation and what you're looking for. We'll arrange a conversation, understand your needs, and set out clearly how we can help and what it would involve.

Still have a question?
