Remember about parents: a parent staying in the room solely to oversee their own child is not in regulated activity and needs no DBS check (and none can lawfully be requested). Manage them with a visitor sign-in and an “own child only” rule — they don't belong on this assessment at all.

This check-up gives a basic overview only, based on the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (as amended by the Crime and Policing Act 2026) and GOV.UK guidance. It is not legal advice and does not replace a full audit: it cannot see your policies, recruitment records, or the detail behind your answers. Where a result says a check is required, the role should not continue in regulated activity until the correct certificate is in place.
